Cultivating stillness: How reiki taught me to live in the present.

I used to think stillness was something you had to earn—like a reward for finally getting through your to-do list. But the truth is, stillness isn’t something you chase. It’s something you choose. And for me, that choice became much clearer when I learned Reiki.
Reiki didn’t just teach me how to work with energy—it showed me how to be with myself in a way that felt nourishing, rather than restless. It gave me a practice, a rhythm, and a reminder to live just for today.
Just for today, I release anger.
Not because I should, but because holding onto it feels heavier than letting go. I started noticing where tension lived in my body, how it showed up in my words, and how quickly it could dissolve with a breath, a hand on my heart, or the simple awareness that I had a choice.
Just for today, I release worry.
Worry used to be my default setting—overthinking, playing out worst-case scenarios, carrying stress that wasn’t even mine. But Reiki taught me to redirect that energy. Instead of spiraling, I started placing my hands over my body, breathing, feeling the warmth, and choosing to trust instead of fear.
Just for today, I devote myself to a practice that enriches my life.
Reiki isn’t about adding another task to your plate—it’s about infusing your life with more presence, more ease, more you. Whether I’m doing self-healing, meditating, or simply pausing to feel the energy within me, Reiki has become a daily anchor that keeps me connected to myself and to something greater.
If you’ve been craving that kind of connection—whether it’s curiosity calling or a deeper knowing that it’s time for something more—Reiki might be the practice you didn’t know you needed.
